Colgate University Physical Environment

Colgate University2 300x177 Colgate University Physical EnvironmentColgate University is located in rural, central New York, in the small town of Hamilton. After students exit from I- 90, they see expanses of farmlands, silos, cows and even a llama farm. The Colgate campus is built on a hill and the library gives the impression of a castle surrounded by water and well-tended fields.

It brings out the romantic side in the students. It’s not surprising that they like Harry Potter and read it in Spanish while wearing costumes on this campus. At the O’Conner Campus Center, the COOP, there hangs a globe fashioned by an architect to remind students of globalization.

Students here develop international perspectives because over half of them study abroad and learn to live and communicate with other cultures. The lower level cafeteria with its food for take-out is popular with students, who study a lot here and often eat on the run.
