Colgate University Physical Environment Part (2)
Weather-hardened students love to sit and warm up around the huge, round fireplace. Residences for first-year students are at the top of the hill while dorms for older students occupy the lower levels. In this way the upper class students take the first-years under their wing.
Within walking distance of the campus there are frat houses and town homes owned by the college. This campus community is tight-knit. Although the college is isolated, there is a natural back-and-forth with the folks living in the village.
The college bookstore was moved there and a Colgate bus takes students to and from town. Students are likely to run into their professors at “Porridge,” the local coffee shop, or at the Byrne Dairy, the ice-cream parlor.
